UFC Owner Lorenzo Fertitta Believes In Women's MMA

Source: MMA Fighting

UFC owner Lorenzo Fertitta and UFC President Dana White usually see eye-to-eye when it comes to the UFC and MMA in general but they have very different opinions when it comes to women’s MMA. Dana White has always held the stance that women’s MMA cannot flourish since the talent pool is so shallow. Lorenzo Fertitta has a different opinion. Fertitta was very impressed with the Ronda Rousey vs Miesha Tate fight that Showtime put on two weeks ago and believes women’s MMA can exist in the right hands–the UFC’s hands. For now, look for women’s MMA to continue on Strikeforce cards but the future of the sport is definitely bright if the UFC is interested in promoting it.

Update 6/11/2012: Dana White seems to be softening on his stance against women’s MMA. White said that he is not against a women’s division but is against it right now because of the lack of depth in talent. White says there is Ronda Rousey and maybe one or two other quality fighters and then no one else. Because of that, there is no way a women’s division can exist. White believes there will be a point where there is enough talent for a women’s division to exist possibly even in the UFC.
