Michael Bisping Calls Out Alan Belcher, Wants Brian Stann Fight

Michael Bisping is tired of the rest of the middleweight division calling him out for being a front runner. And he is ready to take them on–most notably, Alan Belcher. Bisping was on Fuel TV’s ‘UFC Tonight’ and said he was sick about hearing Belcher badmouth him. He went on to tell Belcher if he had big enough “balls” to call Joe Silva and set up the fight. Those are big fighting words. Bisping also revealed he will be ready to fight by UFC 152 in Toronto, Canada.

The only issue seems to be that Belcher is nursing a hand injury and may not be ready. Bisping also mentioned Brian Stann as a possible opponent. Stann tweeted out that he would accept the fight since a win over Bisping would definitely get him closer to a title shot. Again though, Stann is also healing from a shoulder injury and may not be ready in time.

I am happy to finally see the Michael Bisping that just doesn’t care about his positioning back. That is the Bisping that I love to see. He used to be this guy that wanted to fight and get better and didn’t care who he fought. Lately, he has been the guy that only cared about fighting for the title and title shots. Those things are great but they come when you earn it. Go back to finishing fights and the title shot will take care of itself.

Bisping would be great for UFC 152 since it has already lost out on a rematch between JDS and Cain Velasquez. As of yet, the only fight on the card is BJ Penn and Rory MacDonald. If Bisping were to fight on the Toronto card he would bring notoriety and instant credibility. I can actually see him in a fight with Vitor Belfort as well. Belfort recently removed pins from his injured hand so he might be ready in time. That fight could definitely be a #1 contender match.

Update 7/14/2012: Michael Bisping got his wish. He wanted Brian Stann and will get to face Brian Stann at UFC 152 in Toronto, Canada. Bisping will help bring name recognition to a card desperately lacking known fighters besides BJ Penn and Rory MacDonald.
