Josh Koscheck was happy to win a close split decision victory Saturday night at UFC 143 and, afterwards, admitted he had a hard time getting excited to fight Mike Pierce. But Pierce gave Koscheck all he could handle, Dana White admitted he thought Pierce won the fight two rounds to one. It seems Koscheck’s two take downs in the last round won him the fight. Koscheck later revealed that he is no longer affiliated with American Kickboxing Academy (AKA). Koscheck recently opened a gym in Fresno, CA and will now be training there full time. When asked what is next for him, Koscheck lobbied for a fight with Carlos Condit but would be fine with fighting Nick Diaz since Condit already has a date with GSP.
Update 2/6/2012: Josh Koscheck has confirmed the reason he is leaving AKA is because of Javier Mendez and how he seems to throw his fighters under the bus after they lose a fight. Mendez apparently blames the fighters for not sticking to his game plan as a reason for their losses. Most notably, Mendez blamed Cain Velazquez for standing in front of JDS when he was knocked out at UFC on Fox 1.
