It is no secret Chael Sonnen and Dan Henderson are friends. In fact, Sonnen has so much respect for Henderson that he believes Henderson is the greatest MMA fighter of all time. So when Henderson went on record as saying he did not tip Sonnen off that he was injured, I am not buying any of it.
Given the timing of when Henderson was injured and how Sonnen suddenly starting provoking Jon Jones you have believe Sonnen knew something even if it wasn’t Henderson who directly tipped Sonnen. How could Sonnen not know when the two are friends and used to train together?
Sonnen is a smart man and a great promoter. I wouldn’t put anything past him in this case. So when he recently said that he is still going to face Jon Jones at UFC 152, I had to listen. Sonnen believes Vitor Belfort will eventually pull out of his fight with Jon Jones because pulling out of fights is what Belfort does.
Belfort recently pulled out of a fight with Wanderlei Silva at the end of TUF Brazil. I am not sure how accurate Sonnen’s statement is since Belfort really wants to capitalize on this opportunity. He is taking this fight seriously since it may be his last chance at capturing a title. If history is any indicator, injuries do occur; and, in Sonnen’s case, being ready couldn’t hurt his chances.
